About

The Ramen Directory has a simple mission: to evolve into a rich, searchable hub of all things ramen, serving as a detailed ramen database. We’re gathering ramen experiences from all corners of the globe, though LA holds a special focus. This evolving project aims to go beyond the scope of my existing blog at ramenzac.com and my personal ramen excel sheet. Our goal? To reshape Ramen Directory from just a blog to a well-structured, user-friendly directory.

Charting the Journey of Ramen Directory: Here’s a glance at some pivotal landmarks since the inception of this project.

  • October 2020 – The journey kicked off when we secured the Ramen Directory domain. The original plan was to purchase ramen.com, but due to a high asking price, we opted for ramendirectory.com.
  • November 2020 – We took all ramen photos from 2016 to 2020, organized them, and uploaded them to the site from a personal iCloud account.
  • November 2020 – We began to publish unique posts for each ramen bowl, each with an interactive map location and basic categories.
  • August 2021 – We enhanced our site’s technology with advanced site caching, photo optimization, and integration with the Cloudflare CDN to ensure quick and responsive load times, even over limited bandwidth connections.
  • September 2021 – We developed and launched a resource page, offering links to other reliable ramen resources.
  • September 2021 – We introduced social share buttons to the site.
  • May 2022 – We added a significant feature – the Ramen Map.
  • Ongoing – We are continually revisiting shops to update posts with more detailed descriptions and refreshed photos.
