If you find yourself in Hacienda Heights and in the mood for noodles, then Foo Foo Tei is the spot to check out. This shop has over 30 bowls to pick from and I’m sure you’ll find something you like. This Mabo Tofu Ramen was my first bowl at this shop and it’s really good. In fact, I can’t wait to return to try the other options. This shop is like an old school diner with lots of other fried food dishes to add to your order.

Mabo tofu is a popular dish in Japanese and Chinese cuisine. It consists of tofu (bean curd) in a spicy sauce made with ground meat (usually pork or beef) and vegetables. The vegetables typically used in mabo tofu include bell peppers, onions, and scallions. The sauce is made with doubanjiang (a spicy bean paste), soy sauce, and broth or stock. Some variations of the dish may also include ginger, garlic, and other spices. Mabo tofu is usually served over rice and garnished with green onions. It can also be served with vegetables or other accompaniments. In this use, it’s served up as a ramen dish.

Spicy Chuka Soba, but with the spice past on the side. This is the best way to get a little spice with out overwhelming your bowl.

With the spicy paste on the side, you can mix and match with every bit. Giving you two different tastes. Put a pinch on top of the noodles and broth and enjoy.

Ramen Tsurumi Menu

Triple soup (chicken, pork, and fish) with house made spicy oil, sesame paste, soy milk, minced pork, bean sprouts, green onion, Sichuan powder and whole wheat noodles. The sesame flavor really sticks out and the use of soy milk keeps this bowl light.

The noodles here are delicious. I believe they are being made in house.
