Founded in Hakata, Japan in 1985, Ippudo Ramen is a renowned international ramen chain famed for its tonkotsu ramen. The recipe involves a rich, creamy broth that’s been simmered for hours, thin noodles, and traditional toppings like chashu (braised pork belly), green onions, and a soft-boiled egg.
Ippudo is globally respected for its commitment to quality, along with its philosophy of “constantly evolving”, while still preserving the crucial traditional elements. The chain has been a game-changer in the ramen scene with its innovative offerings such as the Shiromaru Classic and Akamaru Modern ramen bowls.
As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Ippudo had expanded impressively, operating over 80 stores in Japan and numerous international locations in countries including the United States, Australia, Malaysia, China, South Korea, among others. This has earned Ippudo various accolades and a loyal following worldwide for its consistently tantalizing ramen.
However, it’s important to note that the Ippudo Ramen location on the 3rd Street Promenade is no longer open for business.
