Hiyashi Chuka @ RamenYa

Hiyashi Chuka from RamenYa, tucked away in a tiny strip mall at the corner of Ocean Park Blvd. and Gateway—now that’s a dish! Cold, soupless noodles, perfectly dressed in a soy sesame sauce. Topped off with quality chicken, crisp cucumber, a beautifully fried egg, fresh tomato, bean sprouts, seaweed, red ginger, and dry seaweed. And let me tell you about that spicy mustard on the side—it’s not for the faint of heart. Used just a dab of it. With this scorching heat in Los Angeles, this dish is exactly what you need. Absolutely spot on!

You’re going to love this shop. Operating since 1990, RamenYa has firmly established its place in the local culinary scene. And there’s a bonus—right next door, you’ll find Tokyo Kalbi, a Japanese BBQ style restaurant, and it’s under the same esteemed ownership as RamenYa. The extensive menu at RamenYa offers old-school ramen that’s hard to find at many other places and is reminiscent of what you’d find at Foo Foo Tei, Kouraku, or Umemura.
